These fudge brownies with juicy cherries would be perfect for any special occasion.
My family and I really love the Duncan Hines chewy fudge brownie mix. And the dark chocolate fudge brownie mix. Those are my go to’s when making this sweet treat. Betty Crocker brownie mixes are just as good. Just use your favorite tried and true brownie mix. Grab a 21oz can of cherry pie filling and use the amount of oil called for on the back of the brownie box. I think all vegetable oils are pretty much the same. Just use your go to here, too. And that’s it. Seriously. Only those 3 ingredients!
And these chewy fudge 3 Ingredient Cherry Brownies takes just minutes of prep time.
So let’s get started.
The only ingredients you need: the boxed brownie mix, oil and a can of cherry pie filling.

Some needed and helpful equipment:
- Wooden spoon or silicone spatula or bowl scraper. These silicone cooking utensils are so easy to clean and come in so many colors.
- Batter bowl or other large bowl. These batter bowls that come with a lid are so handy.
- 9×13 cake pan. I use these from Nordic Ware. I love that they have lids to easily store your baked goods right in the pan.
First, pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F. Then, empty the package of brownie mix in a large bowl. Add the oil called for on the back of the box. My box called for 2/3 of a cup. Now, add in the can of pie filling. Use a wooden spoon or silicone spatula and gently mix all the ingredients. Be careful as you stir, you don’t want to use a heavy hand and break or burst all those cherries. Mix until all the brownie mix is incorporated and no more powder remains.
Next, spray your baking pan with cooking spray and pour your brownie batter into the pan. Carefully spread the mixture around the pan.
Bake brownies in the oven and set the time for the time on the back of the box.
When the timer goes off, check your brownies. They’re done when a toothpick inserted 1 inch from the edge of the pan comes out clean. Now, these brownies are going to take extra time to bake. Anywhere from 3 to 6 minutes longer. Every oven is different, so go ahead and check them. The very center might not appear to be completely done. That is fine. As long as the toothpick comes out clean, go ahead and take them out of the oven. Place your pan on a wire rack to cool.
Then you can cut them and eat them. Or since these are such rich and fudgy brownies, I think the best way to enjoy them is while they’re still warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream with some chocolate sauce. And of course, a maraschino cherry on top!
To store, place in an airtight container or cover with plastic wrap. You can store these on the counter for 3 to 4 days. If they last that long!
Wanna make this even better? Add some chocolate chips and maraschino cherries. Just drain the liquid from the maraschino cherries jar, and remove the stems. Then roughly chop them up and mix the cherries and chocolate chips in the batter.
Do not use a food processor, stand mixer or hand mixer for these. Your cherries will end up like mush.
The texture of the brownie is more fudge like. If you like your brownies more cake like, you can still make cherry brownies! Just mix your brownie mix up following the instructions on the back of the box. Then mix in your cherry filling. You will still have that great cherry flavor and your cake like brownies.

Not gonna lie… there is just something SO GOOD about boxed brownies. Brings me back to my childhood when mom would let me lick the mixer.

ooookkk I’m going to have to try this with a gf brownin mix. Although my husband isn’t a fan of fruit with chocolate, I am! And chocolate-covered cherries are one of my dad’s favorite things.
