I love the way this DIY Canvas Wall décor turned out!
This was such an easy DIY and I hope this post inspires you to make your own canvas wall décor.
This DIY canvas wall décor for the bathroom looks like wall décor you would buy at the store! But it is so much cheaper and easier to customize by doing it yourself.
When we bought our house a few years ago, I was excited about how much wall space we had in our master bathroom by the bathtub. I had never had such a large area to decorate in a bathroom before!
Our bathtub is inset with 2 long walls on the sides and a window between them on the other wall. One of the long walls did have a towel rack on it, so I did have that taking up a bit of that large blank space. But, I knew I needed some type of wall décor, but I had no idea where to start.
The image below shows the beautiful, blank walls I had to work with before we moved in to the house. (Can you hear them just screaming for anything in the color teal?)
My husband suggested we buy one of those shelves with compartments like they have in hotel rooms with rolled towels on it. I looked and shopped around, but never found one that I just absolutely loved. And besides, I’m pretty sure my kids would have used the nice, rolled up ones because they left all of theirs towels wet on the bathroom floor. Again.
So fast forward to me taking a nice, hot bath one night.
For some reason, every time I take a bath, I sing, “splish, splash, I was taking a bath”, to myself. And then, while I was soaking in the tub, I thought about putting that quote on the wall. I had planned on just using the vinyl quote on the wall, but I had some blank canvas boards and decided to use them. Plus it helped to add a splash of color to the walls.
Look how gosh darn cute these turned out!
The image above is the large wall without the towel rack. The image below is the one above the towel rack on the other side.

I used Cricut design space for the words and images. If you don’t have a Cricut or a Silhouette machine, you can find premade vinyl lettering with quotes and images at places like Hobby Lobby, Walmart, Amazon and other stores. There are also online stores where you can have custom quotes and lettering done. Or you could simply use stencils and paint. (I have actually made a canvas board using paint and stencils that I will post another time. It’s not pretty because I was just messing around with stencils at that time. But I do have it hanging in my bedroom because I love it, regardless of it being a mess).
For this project, I used 4 stretched canvas boards, spray paint, permanent vinyl sheets and my Cricut machine.
I first spray painted 3 of the canvas boards in teal color and I left the other one white. You can also brush paint the canvas. I’ve seen many other crafters use bottled paint and a paint brush, but I feel like I get better results with spray paint. After the paint dried, I used Cricut design space to make my quotes and the bathtub image. Then I attached them to the canvas and all done! I love how they turned out!!
I will be sharing so many DIY’s that use canvas boards and canvas panels. Did you know the Dollar Tree sells canvas boards AND canvas panels? The last time I went to the Dollar Tree, the biggest size my store carried of the canvas boards was 8X10. But, they carry 11X14 in the canvas panels. If you get a chance, pick some up, because canvas boards are so versatile with crafts. Did you know the canvas panels fit into photo frames? I have some crafts I will be sharing with that too!
